Gluten Free Grilled Tri Tip
There are 2 kinds of people in this world – those who grill in the summer and those who grill year-round! Which one are you? Either way, you can enjoy this delicious gluten-free grilled tri-tip.
I am a year-round griller for sure! But even if you aren’t, I’m sure you know how to cook meat inside for the fall/winter, so keep on reading! The flavor is worth it!
What’s next on my list is to try to make this using my brand new sous-vide!
For those that enjoy meal-prep, what I CAN tell you is that you can make up double the marinade and marinate double the batch of tri-tip.
Now, you have 2 choices with the other batch, both of which I have tried:
- Cook the second batch of meat and freeze it
- Freeze the second batch raw in the marinade.
What is a Good Gluten Free Side Dish for Grilled Tri Tip?
You can never go wrong with grilling or steaming veggies.
Sometimes I throw some butter, seasoning, and veggies into an aluminum foil bundle and throw it on the grill while cooking my steaks. YUM!
Is Tri Tip Tough?
No, it is not. But it all depends on how long you cook it for as well. If you overcook it, then that can turn any tender meat tough.

How to Store Tri Tip Steaks
Well, that assumes you won’t fully devour these delicious grilled tri-tip steaks immediately! But, alas, if you don’t, then you can simply throw the leftovers into a glass, airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
How To Make Gluten Free Grilled Trip Tip
First, we need to mix up the tri-tip marinade.
In a large glass baking dish (or ziplock bag), add olive oil, No Soy sauce, Worcestershire, lemon juice, dijon mustard, black pepper and minced garlic. You’ll need to spend a bit of time working on combining this. It is not going to want to combine, but it will.
Then add the tri-tip to the marinade and make sure it is all coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, rotating the meat at least once.
I will be the first to admit that the marinade does not look all that appetizing, but it tastes AMAZING! Just trust it!
Once it is done marinading, then you are ready to grill!
I use a Trager Smoker and it took about 12 minutes per side. Your grill may vary and I’m sure you are way more familiar with your grill than I am – so you know what to do from this point on!

- Add olive oil, No Soy sauce (or coconut aminos), lemon juice, Worchetire, dijon mustard, pepper and minced garlic to a large glass baking dish.
- Whisk very well until ingredients are well combined.
- Place tri tip in the glass baking dish and mix well.
- Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Start grilling!
- We use a Traeger and the cooking time was about 12 minutes per side. Your grill may vary, so make sure it is properly cooked before consuming!
