My name is Trina Krug – queen of my house, mom extraordinaire to five kids, wife to my blazin’ hot firefighting man, and recipe engineer.
I am also a certified health coach with a Master’s Certificate in Nutrition.
And lastly, I am the owner and creator of The Keto Option which is an established blog for living a low carb lifestyle.
You might be asking, is THIS a low carb blog? No, it is not. But you can head on over to The Keto Option if that is what you are looking for. You will, however, find some low carb recipes here too!
The Gluten Free Option is dedicated to a healthier version of the recipes you know and love.
You can be guaranteed of two things:
- Recipes will NEVER contain gluten. But YOU need to do your own due diligence to make sure the products you buy (ex baking powder) are the gluten free kind! Never assume!
- Recipes will NEVER contain added white refined sugar. Instead, you get to choose what sweetener you use. These recipes will turn out great no matter which one you choose. I tend to use coconut sugar or erythritol/monkfruit.
WHAT YOU’LL FIND HERE
Delicious gluten-free recipes! Mostly desserts and snacks because that is what I feel people struggle with the most when converting to a gluten-free lifestyle.
In a past life, I was an engineer developing algorithms to solve problems. Then I traded in algorithms for recipes, inputs for ingredients, and random outputs for super tasty foods.
WHY I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT GLUTEN FREE
My son was diagnosed with Celiac disease several years ago. This was after a Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis (which I also have) and so it hit pretty hard. He was only about 10 years old at the time of the Celiac diagnosis.
We decided as a family that we would immediately convert to a gluten-free lifestyle and we haven’t turned back since.
On a personal level, I feel that gluten is a toxin anyway, so I wasn’t heartbroken about the switch. But that is an entirely different story!
